Anirah foundation donates learning materials to indigent students
The Felix Anirah Foundation has donated books worth millions of naira, uniforms including cash to 50 indigents students of Okpe Grammar School, in Sapele local government area of Delta State.
While addressing the beneficiaries, President of the Foundation, Hon Chief Felix Uruemuesiri Anirah, member representing Sapele Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly said the foundation was embarking on the gesture as usual to assist indigent students and further boost the educational development of Sapele.
Anirah, who said, he was touched by the students reception said his mission is to provide the students need while they focus on their studies. “This is just the beginning. My intention is to make sure that we provide all your need while you are going to school. We will do this for Okpe Grammar School, Sapele Technical College, Okotie Eboh, Saint Malachy and all the secondary school in Sapele”
“We are going to introduce a special scholarship; we will give the best ten students in Sapele fifty thousand naira every year. It is the best ten students in JSS1 and SSS1; we will take 10 from JSS1and SSS1. I want all of you to study very hard and those of you in SSS3; I am going to pay for your NECO examination. For those who will collect uniforms today, I know they are indigent students, am leaving behind the sum of five thousand each for your principal to take care of your immediate needs for this year” he added.
While responding, the Principal of Okpe Grammar School Sapele, Comrade Tony Uba who also doubles as the coordinator general of Felix Anirah foundation said the visit was a divine intervention, recalling how the uniforms donation was added to the foundation yearly gift.
Uba also stated that Anirah saw three students not well dressed during the last school inter house sports competition, and after providing for ten of them, he promised he would look out for the indigent ones “and that is how we picked them” calling on God’s protection for the House of Assembly member.
One of the beneficiaries, Ibobo Favour who could not hold back her joy also thanked the Chief Anirah for the gesture praying on God’s guidance for him.
Hon Mike Eboh, a community leader also praised Chief Felix Anirah saying what the foundation has done well, calling on other politicians to emulate his good works.
Other dignitaries who witnessed the occasion include; Mrs Margaret Basil Iwhiwhu, Director post primary education Sapele zone, Dcn Joseph Eghwujovio, ministry of basic and secondary education, Ekeleme Harrison, national president of Okpe youth council worldwide, Chief Austin Atiti, SSA youth development, Godwin Apitikori, Okirigwre community, vice president Sapele Athletic Club kayode Sanni and others.
The Anirah foundation started in 2009 and has given out books and scholarships, to more than five hundred students at the primary, secondary and university level with treatment for eyes, diabetes, yellow fever and other ailments
