President-General of the federated oil-rich Adadja communities in Udu local government area of Delta State, Comrade Daniel Keleju Ovedje, has expressed confidence in the ability of the state Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa to provoke the needed developmental impetus to move the State forward, urging all Deltans to support the three point agenda of the present administration.
In an interview with newsmen shortly after the inauguration of the 7th Assembly of the Delta State House of Assembly in Asaba, Comrade Ovedje, who is also the incumbent President of Emadadja community hailed the developmental initiatives of the governor in the past four years, noting that Okowa as a visionary leader, would do more in the years to come.
Comrade Ovedje appealed to Governor Okowa to consider Adadja sons and daughters for appointment in his cabinet considering the oil-producing status of the Adadja Communities which is host to the Abura oil field boasting of over 15 oil wells with Emadadja community accounting for 11 while the rest communities have about four wells.
”As major stakeholders in the production of crude oil which is the mainstay of the Nigerian economy, we call on Governor Okowa to consider our sons and daughters for appointments beside infrastructural demands of the people. His performance in the last four years endeared him to the voters which resulted in his landslide victory in the 2019 general polls”, he said.
The President of Emadadja Community also called on the legislature to cooperate with the executive towards providing the legislative framework for accelerated development of the state, noting that, with the performance records of the governor in the last four years, there were assurances of a bumper harvest of basic infrastructure in the coming years.
He commended Governor Okowa for his prudent management of the available resources in the state, stressing that, the governor’s record in guiding the state out of troubled waters even during the cruel period of the fast receding recession, was remarkable, urging him to continue in the same stead in the next four years so as to stabilize the polity and build on the gains of his ‘award-winning administration.’
