DESCOEM to hold two day symposium on teacher education

A two day symposium on Teachers Education will begin on Tuesday September 17, 2019 at the Delta State College of Education, Mosogar in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to a signed release made available to journalists in Mosogar by the Chairman Local Organising Committee, Dr Power Onojete and Secretary Mrs Ogude Esther, the Symposium which will be chaired by the Provost of the College, Professor Emmanuel Ojeme has its theme has “Dwindling Students Enrolment in Teacher Education Programmes in Nigeria; The Mult-Variate Issues and the Way Forward”
The statement adds that “participants at the event will arrive on Tuesday September 17, 2019 which will be followed by an opening ceremony on Wednesday 18th at 10 am prompt with discussants treating topics such as “Operators in Teacher Education (C.I.Es), Parents /General Public, Union Leaders, Government Agencies, NCCE Representative, Chairman, and House Committee on Education.
The Sub-theme include: Issues of Policy Intervention in Teacher Education in Nigeria and Funding of Teacher Education in Nigeria, while the rappertoirs are Dr Moses Ossai, Department of Counselling, College of Education and Dr S.S.S. Apologun Department of Education and Foundation College of Education, Mosogar.
The release explained further that the guest speakers are Emperor Kpagban, Dean, Faculty of Education, Delta State University, Abraka, Prof. Noah Musa, Faculty of Education, University of Benin, and Dr, Joseph Ukadike, Provost College of Education, Agbor.
Others are, Dr Amos Ighorodje, Chairman Governing Council and other members of Council, Guest of Honour, His Royal Majesty, Samson Okirhieriobo Imoyin-Omene (JP) Udurhie 1 Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom Royal Father of the day, Prof Muoboghare Patrick, (Hon Commissioner for Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Eduction, Asaba Delta, Special Guest of Honour.
“The Special guests of honour, also included Commissioner for Basic Education and Secondary Education, Mr Patrick Ukah, Prof Prof. Bappa Aliyu Muhammadu Executive Secretary, National Commission for Colleges of Education while Prof Emmanuel Ojeme, Provost (DESCOEM ) is the Chief Host.”
