By Dafe Omoko
THE Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has commended the Association of Nigeria Refinery Petroleum Marketers (ANRPM) and Waterway Oil and Gas Marketers Association of Nigeria (WOGMAN) chapters over their activities and plans for the state.
Governor Okowa represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House Asaba, Olorogun David Edevbie made the commendation after he was briefed about the activities of ANRPM and WOGMAN by the leaders of the groups during their visit to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa at Government House Asaba recently..
Olorogun Edevwie in his speech assured the groups that he will brief the governor about the activities and plans of ANRPM and WOGMAN for the state, saying that, the Delta Ministry of Oil and Gas would be very much interested about the activities and plans of ANRPM and WOGMAN, even as he assured of government assistance to the groups
Earlier the South South zonal cordinator of ANRPM, Comrade Prosper Ohwojero who is also the South-South zonal chairman of WOGMAN in his speech congratulated Governor Okowa over his inauguration for second tenure, explaining that, both ANRPM and WOGMAN are petroleum products marketers with the aim of eradicating illegal bunkering in the state with the assistance of government and security agencies.
Ohwojero who applauded Okowa over his prosperity for Deltans agenda stated that ANRPM would provide job opportunities for Deltans, particularly the youths, disclosing that, ANRPM has partnered with a foreign firm, Aria Petrol Chemical Company to build two modular refineries in Delta State, stressing that, gas flaring would be converted to liquefied gas in the state, and that ANRPM would build mega filling stations in the state.
The Delta State chairman of WOGMAN, Comrade Iyelagha Doubra in his speech at the event affirmed that the visit of WOGMAN was to also seek partnership with the state government on the eradication of illegal bunkering in the state, noting that, illegal bunkering, oil pipelines vandalization and oil theft could affect oil production which could consequently reduced the monthly federal allocation to the state.
He also highlighted the dangers in the use of adulterated petroleum products which has claimed many lives and destroyed valuable properties in the state.
He however alleged that some security agencies are giving support to illegal bunkering in the state
Comrade Doubra alleged that most of the filling stations in the riverine areas are without the approval of DPR, saying that, WOGMAN is prepared to incorporate such filling stations by registering them with DPR so they can desist from illegal bunkering.
He then appealed to the state government to provide logistics such as patrol vans and speed boats to enhance the operations of WOGMAN in the state.
