Okowa commends Taiga over achievements

The Governor of Delta State Senator Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa has commended the President General of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide Olorogun (Dr.) Moses Oghenerume Taiga for his achievements since he was elected into office a ago .
The Ika born Delta State number one citizen gave the commendation in his speech during the opening ceremony of the 87th annual Urhobo National Day celebration at Conference Hall of Petroleum Training Institute , ( PTI ) Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area , on Friday November 30th 2018.
While commending Olorogun Taiga and other national executives of UPU for the rapid renovation of the ultra modern Urhobo Cultural Centre at Uvwiamuge- Agbarho , Governor Okowa pledged to support the project with an undisclosed sum of money , saying that his administration will always support any ethnic group that is embarking on projects that will unite the people ” united is strength. When the various ethnic groups are united ,managing the people becomes easier ”
Governor Okowa also hailed the National leadership of UPU on Urhobo position on the ongoing debate on restructuring of the country, noting that restructuring will make Nigeria a better place for all.
Governor Okowa who pledged his administration support for renovation of Urhobo College , Effurun , Governor Okowa who pledged his administration support for renovation of Urhobo College just as he disclosed that he has approved the rehabilitation of more roads in Effurun due to the cosmopolitan nature of the area , stressing the need for facilities in Uvwie to be put in their best state.
On politics, Governor Okowa called on politicians to play politics without bitterness in order to ensure a crisis free elections in 2019.
Former governor Chief James Ibori who spoke at the event, called on the unity amongst the Urhobos and greater respect for traditional rulers in Urhobo Nation just as he applauded UPU national executives for their support for restructuring of Nigeria
He finally appealed to the Warri indigenous ethnic groups to unite in the presentation of memorandum calling for the relocation of Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) back to Warri at the National Assembly in order to attract developments to the area.
Olorogun Taiga had earlier in his keynote address , expressed appreciation to Governor Okowa for his immense voluntary contributions towards the renovation of Urhobo Cultural Centre at Uvwiamuge- Agbarho just as he called for the adequate funding of the Federal University Of Petroleum Resources, Effurun ( FUPRE), teaching of Urhobo language in schools in Delta Central, Warri South and Patani local government areas, settlement of of Ogbe Ijoh /Aladja and Urhobo traders / Ogbe Ijoh disputes .
He had earlier paid tributes to distinguished Urhobos who died during the past one year since he was elected President General of UPU Worldwide
High point of the event was the wearing of UPU designer wrappers on Governor Okowa, his deputy Barrister Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, former governor James Ibori some top government functionaries by Olorogun Taiga
A roll call of a galaxy of Urhobo traditional rulers, distinguished politicians both at local, state and Federal Government levels, clergies and executives of Itsekiri leaders were sighted at the very impressive occasion.
