Oteghele Community Chairman gets kudos for installing street lights in Warri

THE Chairman of Oteghele Community, Agbarha Kingdom , Warri , Comrade Okpeh Ovie Peter has been receiving commendations from residents, traders and vehicle users for installing street lights in Ometan Road, an area that is notorious for the nefarious activities of men of the under World during night fall in Warri.
Those who spoke to our correspondent on the gesture of Comrade Okpeh affirmed that the installation of the street lights has made the area save at night.
A commercial tricycle ( keke) rider who simply identified himself as Patrick Odia recalled that Ometan Road used to be a no go area for keke riders at night due to the nefarious activities of bad boys before the installation of the street lights, saying that the gesture is a good example of community self help project .He therefore expressed appreciation to Comrade Okpeh for the installation of the street lights.
Similarly speaking, a female pump attendant in Oyoyo Filing Station along Ometan Road Ms Mercy Obi noted that the installation of the street lights has scared away hoodlums from the area at night , saying that fuel consumers now patronize the filing station at night without fear of being robbed by hoodlums.
In the same vein, a female petty trader in Ometan Road who do not want h her name mentioned in the print said that she was robbed severally by hoodlums under the cover of darkness prior to the installation of the street lights . She therefore commended the Chairman of Oteghele Community for the installation of the street lights just as she prayed for him.
A member of the vigilante group who also pleaded anonymity , happily told our reporter that the installation of the street lights has boost the morale of his colleagues and himself in doing their jobs. While calling on other community chairmen in Warri South and indeed Delta State to borrow a leaf from Comrade Okpeh, he appealed for the regular supply of power from the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) to complement the efforts of the Chairman of Oteghele Community .
In a media chat with our reporter on his installation of the street lights in Ometan Road, Comrade Okpeh explained that the gesture was aimed at complementing government efforts in providing security to the people of the area, saying that ” we cannot depend on government for the provision of everything”
